Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy has undergone surgery on a muscle injury in his right thigh, with the club confirming he will be sidelined for three to four months.
The 30-year-old French defender went under the knife on Monday in a Lyon hospital, operated on by Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet in the presence of Real Madrid’s medical team. The club issued a brief medical statement announcing the procedure without providing extensive details, but confirmed the operation was successful.
Mendy picked up the injury during Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Espanyol on May 3. He was forced off the pitch in the 14th minute after feeling discomfort while sprinting. The following day, the club diagnosed a “rectus femoris tendon injury in his right leg,” which required surgical intervention.

This marks Mendy’s fifth injury of the season, having completed only four full matches in the current campaign.
