Fiorentina and Genoa shared a point in a tightly contested Serie A clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with neither side able to find the back of the net in a 0-0 stalemate.
The match, which ended without a goal, saw both teams come close on several occasions. The best chance for Fiorentina came in the 92nd minute when Albert Gudmundsson’s right-footed effort from a tight angle skimmed the far post, with the assist coming from Dodô. Genoa also had their opportunities, particularly in the 73rd minute when Caleb Ekuban’s right-footed shot from inside the box narrowly missed the target.
The second half saw a flurry of substitutions as both managers looked to change the game. Fiorentina brought on Roberto Piccoli for Riccardo Braschi in the 60th minute, followed by Giovanni Fabbian and Marco Brescianini replacing Cher Ndour and Rolando Mandragora respectively in the 71st and 72nd minutes. Genoa responded with changes, introducing Wedtoin Ouedraogo and Ruslan Malinovskyi for Aarón Martín and Jeff Ekhator in the 70th minute, and later Patrizio Masini and Mamedi Doucouré for Alex Amorim and Alessandro Marcandalli in the 81st minute.
The match was briefly stopped in the 61st minute due to an injury to Genoa’s Leo Østigård, but he was able to continue. Fiorentina’s De Gea was called into action in the 59th minute, making a save from a Genoa corner.
In total, four minutes of added time were indicated, but neither side could find a breakthrough. The final whistle confirmed a deserved point for both teams, leaving Fiorentina and Genoa to reflect on a match that offered little to separate them.
